About Me

Hi! I’m Yogi.

I was born in Dayton, Ohio, and I have been a Southern California resident since 1979. I have three adult children who are the sum of who I am.

I am a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) who has birthed hundreds of babies. I have been a working professional in maternal health for over 20 years. Learning the art of midwifery at Frontier Nursing University propelled me to look at birth differently. Advocating, growing, and supporting birth communities continues to be my passion as I share my calling as a CNM at the Women’s & Infants Pavilion at AV Hospital, as well as with Kindred Space AV Birth Center.

I have always had the notion of practicing and catching babies as our ancestors once did—outside of a hospital setting. That revelation came to fruition with the birth of my first grandchild in my own home and bed, surrounded by the love of family. Being part of that incredible spiritual birth hastened my vision of “Sage Femme Midwifery.”

I have a deep love for mankind and a passion to eradicate prejudice, injustice, and inequality. I honor traditions, value sacred relationships, and have a strong reverence for the ancestors, especially the “Granny Midwives” who paved my way. Respect, trust, and love bind my relationships with my clients, and my objective is to promote dignity while decreasing childbirth anxiety, fear, and pain by creating a healing birth environment for mom, baby, and family.

Whether you are planning an out-of-hospital birth, looking for prenatal, postpartum, and newborn guidance, or simply want someone in your corner, I am here. Birth is YOUR unique dance, and as your midwife I will ensure that you safely dance to the rhythm of your own body. Here’s to birthing in harmony. Let’s connect and explore your options for care.

With love, peace, and happiness guiding your way,
Yogi
